REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 77, §167.

The second and fourth sentences of Art. 77,
§167(f), which require the chairman of the
council to preside over meetings, the vice
chairman to serve in the chairman's absence, and
the secretary to record the proceedings, are
deleted as unnecessary. These are commonly
understood duties of these officers.

As to subsection (b)(5) of this section, the

terms of the members serving on July 1, 1978

expire as follows: one in 1979, two in 1980, two
in 1981, one in 1982, and one in 1983.

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE:

Article 77, §§ 166A and 166B, the Interstate Library
Compact, now appears in Title 25 of this article, with the
other education compacts.

23-201. STATE LIBRARY RESOURCE CENTER.

(A)   ESTABLISHED.

THE CENTRAL LIBRARY OF THE ENOCH PRATT FREE LIBRARY
SYSTEM IS THE STATE LIBRARY RESOURCE CENTER.

(B)       PURPOSE OF CENTER.

THE STATE LIBRARY RESOURCE CENTER SHALL PROVIDE AND
EXPAND ACCESS TO SPECIALIZED LIBRARY MATERIALS AND SERVICES
THAT ARE NECESSARY FOR COORDINATED, EFFICIENT, AND
ECONOMICAL LIBRARY SERVICES IN THIS STATE.

23-202. REGIONAL RESOURCE CENTERS.

(A)   ESTABLISHMENT.

THE BOARDS OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES OF AT LEAST THREE PUBLIC
LIBRARY SYSTEMS OUTSIDE THE STANDARD METROPOLITAN
STATISTICAL AREAS DEFINED BY THE UNITED STATES BUREAU OF THE
CENSUS MAY REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN
A REGIONAL RESOURCE CENTER.

(B)   PURPOSE OF CENTER.

EACH REGIONAL RESOURCE CENTER SHALL PROVIDE, THROUGH
MUTUAL COOPERATION AND COORDINATION, BOOKS, INFORMATION, AND
OTHER MATERIAL AND SERVICE RESOURCES THAT AN INDIVIDUAL
