STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS.

(C)   COMPENSATION.

EACH MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL:

(1)   SERVES WITHOUT COMPENSATION; AND

(2)   IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS.

(D)   CHAIRMAN, MEETINGS, AND STAFF.

(1)   THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT SHALL SERVE AS
CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL.

(2)    THE COUNCIL SHALL DETERMINE THE TIME AND
PLACE OF ITS MEETINGS AND MAY ADOPT RULES FOR THE CONDUCT OF
ITS MEETINGS.

(3)   THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SHALL
PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT:

(I)   TO THE COUNCIL; AND

(II)    TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL
HYGIENE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION OF EDUCATIONAL
PROGRAMS IN STATE HOSPITAL CENTERS AND JUVENILE RESIDENTIAL
INSTITUTIONS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
77, §219(a), (b), (c), and (g).

Reference to the terms of the initial members is
deleted as obsolete. Of the terms of the members
serving on July 1, 1978, one expires each year.

The only other changes are in style.

22-202. DUTIES OF COUNCIL.

(A) PROGRAM FOR INSTITUTIONS.

(1)    THE EDUCATION COORDINATING COUNCIL SHALL
DEVELOP AND MONITOR AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR EACH STATE
HOSPITAL CENTER AND JUVENILE RESIDENTIAL INSTITUTION IN THE
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE. THE PROGRAMS SHALL
MEET THE SPECIAL NEEDS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE PATIENTS,
INMATES, AND PERSONNEL IN THE CENTER OR INSTITUTION.

(2)   THIS PROGRAM SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH:

(I)    THE OVERALL OPERATION AND FUNCTION OF THE
CENTER OR INSTITUTION; AND

(II)   THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OFFERED IN THE
PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
