GREATEST NEED IN SECURING QUALIFIED FACULTIES IN THE PUBLIC
INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN THIS STATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
77A, §60(a) through (d) and the last clause of
the first sentence and the entire second sentence
of (e).

The first two sentences of present Art. 77A,
§60(d) , the first clause of the first sentence
and the last sentence of §60 (e) and Art. 77A,
§60{f) and (g) are deleted as unnecessary in
light of §§ 18-103, 18-106, and 18-108 of this
title.

The only other changes are in style.

In subsection (b) (1) of this section, reference
to an institution accredited by "an equivalent
regional accrediting agency" is added to conform
with the present practice, which permits
graduates of Midwestern and Western colleges to
be eligible for these fellowships.

In subsection (e)(2)(iii) of this section,
reference to the "department" standards of the
University is substituted for the present
"deportment" standards to conform with a similar
provision in Art. 77A, §57(f)(3), now §18-305(4)
of this title.
As to the enforcement of a recipient's bond, see
§18-108 of this title.

SUBTITLE 10. HIGHER EDUCATION LOAN PROGRAM.
18-1001. DEFINITIONS.

(A)   IN GENERAL.

IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

definition section.

(B)   BOARD.

"BOARD" MEANS THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MARYLAND
HIGHER EDUCATION LOAN CORPORATION.
