THE COUNTY SCHOLARSHIPS SHALL BE AWARDED BY THE
COMMUNITY COLLEGE ON THE BASIS OF:

(1)   ACADEMIC MERIT; AND

(2)   FINANCIAL NEED.

(C)   AMOUNT OF AWARD.

EACH SCHOLARSHIP SHALL PAY FOR TUITION FOR 1 YEAR.

(D)   FUNDING.

EACH YEAR, THE PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY EXECUTIVE SHALL
INCLUDE MONEY FOR THE COUNTY SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE COUNTY
BUDGET.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 77A, §46.

Reference to the term of the scholarships as "1
year" is inserted to conform with the practice of
the community college.

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE:

Article 77A, §10C, which is the charter of the Harford
County Educational Foundation, is transferred to Art. 25 of
the Code for future inclusion in the local government
article.

The powers of the Harford County Educational Foundation
extend beyond Harford Community College and include
furtherance of educational opportunities offered by any
"established and recognized institutions of learning...."

SUBTITLE 1. AID TO NONPUBLIC INSTITUTIONS.

17-101. PROGRAM ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A PROGRAM OF STATE AID TO NONPUBLIC
INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first
sentence of Art. 77A, §65.

It is set forth as a separate section for
emphasis.

The balance of present Art. 77A, §65 now appears
in §§ 17-103 and 17-105 of this subtitle.
