Ch. 22

(1)    THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SHALL SELECT A
PREFERRED SITE AND RANK THE OTHER SITES RECOMMENDED BY THE
COMMISSION IN THE ORDER OF THEIR SUITABILITY AND SUBMIT ITS
RANKING TO THE COUNTY COUNCIL. THE BOARD MAY SPECIFY
CERTAIN SITES AS UNSUITABLE.

(2)    THE COUNTY COUNCIL SHALL APPROVE OR
DISAPPROVE THE BOARD'S SELECTION WITHIN 45 DAYS. IF THE
COUNTY COUNCIL DISAPPROVES THE PREFERRED SITE:

(I)   THE COUNTY COUNCIL SHALL INDICATE IN WRITING
ITS REASONS; AND

(II)   THE BOARD SHALL SELECT A DIFFERENT SITE
FROM THE RANKING AND RESUBMIT IT TO THE COUNTY COUNCIL.

(D) ACQUISITION OF SITE.

IF THE COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVES A SITE, THE BOARD MAY
PROCEED WITH ACQUISITION AS PROVIDED BY LAW.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 77A, §10B.

The last clause of the second sentence of present
Art. 77A, §10B(c), which requires the commission
to resubmit recommendations to the "County
Council in the same manner as provided for
original recommendations", is deleted as
unnecessary since, under the source law the Board
of Trustees submits these matters to the Council.

16-512. PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY — BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

(A)   COMPOSITION.

THE BOARD OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRUSTEES FOR PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY CONSISTS OF EIGHT MEMBERS.

(B)   SELECTION — QUALIFICATIONS; TERM.

(1)   SEVEN OF THE MEMBERS SHALL BE APPOINTED BY
THE GOVERNOR UNDER §16-201 OF THIS TITLE.

(2)    ONE OF THE MEMBERS SHALL BE A REGULARLY
ENROLLED STUDENT IN GOOD STANDING AT PRINCE GEORGE'S
COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE STUDENT MEMBER SHALL:

(I)   BE A RESIDENT OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY;

(II)    BE ELECTED BY THE STUDENT BODY OF THE
COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN THE SAME MANNER AS OTHER STUDENT
GOVERNMENT OFFICERS ARE ELECTED; AND

(III)    SERVE FOR A TERM OF 1 YEAR BEGINNING
JULY 1 AND ENDING   JUNE 30 AND IF A VACANCY OCCURS DURING
THIS PERIOD, A     SPECIAL ELECTION SHALL BE HELD TO ELECT A
SUCCESSOR FOR THE REMAINDER OF THAT TERM.
