SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT concerning

Handscraping of Oysters in Calvert and
St. Mary's County Counties

FOR the purpose of permitting the Department of Natural
Resources to authorize the handscraping of oysters in
the waters of Calvert and St. Mary's County Counties
for a certain period of time if inclement weather
prevails during the tonging season; providing that the
Department shall establish regulations for the

handscraping of oysters in St. Mary's County Calvert

and St. Mary's Counties; providing that there shall be
a catch limit of a certain number of bushels per man
and no more than a certain number of bushels per boat;
prohibiting a person from handscraping for oysters
after a certain time; and making this Act an emergency
measure.
