MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

MARYLAND ANNOTATED CODE

WHEREAS, citizens of the Town of Indian Head have
indicated a desire to retain a three member Town Council,
and

WHEREAS, it is the duty to the elected body of the Town
of Indian Head to legislate in accordance with the wishes
and best interest of the citizens of Indian Head and in
accordance with the laws and constitution of the State of
Maryland, and

WHEREAS, Article 23A, Section 13 of the Maryland
Annotated Code provides for municipal Charter amendment by
Resolution.

[Section 144 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Charles County, repealed and reenacted, with amendments.

Effective Date April 26, 1977]

CHARTER AMENDMENT RESOLUTION NO. 77-1

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ANNEXATION OF

APPROXIMATELY 25.5 ACRES OF CONTIGUOUS LAND

WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE TOWN OF

LA PLATA

WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of La Plata is
required by the Environmental Protection Agency and State of
Maryland to upgrade its sewage treatment facilities; and

WHEREAS, the property owner located in the area covered
by this annexation resolution owns property that the Town
needs for the sewage treatment plant reconstruction; and

WHEREAS, said property is contiguous to the corporate
limits of the Town of La Plata; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council and the property owner of the
area in question are desirous to extend the legal
description of the boundaries of the Town of La Plata to
incorporate within the corporate limits of the Town all the
land presently owned by the Archbishop Neale School, which
is described in deed WMA 47/221; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council has power pursuant to the
provisions of Section 19(b) Article 23A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (ACM), 1957 edition as amended, to initiate
by resolution a change to enlarge the corporate boundaries
after having obtained:
