EXECUTIVE ORDER OF MARCH 27, 1978

RESCISSION OF ELECTRICAL CURTAILMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, An extended strike action of the United Mine
Workers Union against the operators depleted extant
coal supplies; and
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Article II, §6 of the Constitution
and Article 41, §15B of the Annotated Code, I
promulgated, by Executive Order, a plan for curtailment
of electrical power utilization to conserve remaining
coal supplies; and
WHEREAS, These conservation measures, coupled with the
recent ratification of a contract between the Mine
Workers and operators, have averted the crisis in
availability of coal supplies; and
WHEREAS, The Potomac Edison Company has informed me that
the curtailment plan is no longer necessary and has
requested that I rescind the plan; and
WHEREAS, I am informed that Maryland's neighboring states
today have acted to rescind the conservation measures
implemented in their jurisdiction;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BLAIR LEE III, ACTING GOVERNOR OF THE
STATE OF MARYLAND, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN
ME BY ARTICLE II, SECTION 6 OF THE MARYLAND
CONSTITUTION AND BY ARTICLE 41, SECTION 15B OF THE
ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE
FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE ORDER:
1. Executive Order 01.01.1978.02 and
Executive Orders 01.01.1978.03 and 01.01.1978.04,
which amended it, are hereby rescinded.
2. Unless disapproved by the Committee
on Administrative, Executive and Legislative
Review, this Executive Order shall take effect at
12:01 a.m. on March 28, 1978.
