(E)       PERIODIC EVALUATION OF SYSTEM.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND SCHOOL OF MEDICINE SHALL
PROVIDE FOR PERIODIC, SYSTEMATIC EVALUATION OF THE MARYLAND
STATEWIDE MEDICAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING SYSTEM IN
COOPERATION WITH THE GOVERNOR'S COMMISSION ON MEDICAL
EDUCATION.

(F)       OTHER EDUCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS.

(1)          THIS SECTION DOES NOT RESTRICT ANY HEALTH
CARE INSTITUTION FROM STARTING OR OPERATING ANY TRAINING
PROGRAM JOINTLY WITH ANY OTHER PERSON, WHETHER OR NOT THE
INSTITUTION PARTICIPATES IN THIS PROGRAM.

(2)       ANY INSTITUTION THAT PARTICIPATES WITH THE
UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND UNDER THIS SECTION IS FREE TO ENGAGE
IN ANY OTHER EDUCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS.

through 91.

13-110. MARYLAND INSTITUTE FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES.

(A)       ESTABLISHED.

THESE IS A MARYLAND INSTITUTE FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES IN THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND AND LOCATED IN
BALTIMORE CITY.

(B)   DIRECTOR AND STAFF.

(1)    THE HEAD OF THE INSTITUTE IS THE DIRECTOR
WHO SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE BOARD OF REGENTS.

(2)   THE INSTITUTE SHALL HAVE THE STAFF AND FUNDS
PROVIDED IN THE STATE BUDGET.

(C)   DUTIES OF DIRECTOR.
THE DIRECTOR SHALL:

(1)   COORDINATE A STATESIDE SYSTEM OF EMERGENCY
MEDICAL SERVICES;

(2)     COORDINATE THE FIVE EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICE REGIONS IN THIS STATE;

(3)   COORDINATE THE PLANNING AND OPERATION OF
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WITH THE FEDERAL, STATE, AND
COUNTY GOVERNMENTS;

(4) COORDINATE THE TRAINING OF ALL PERSONNEL IN
THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES SYSTEM AND DEVELOP THE
NECESSARY STANDARDS FOR THEIR CERTIFICATION;
