Senate Bill No. 579 — Employees' Retirement System —
Social Security Benefits

AN ACT concerning

Employees' Retirement System — Social Security Benefits

FOR the purpose of specifying, in the provision excluding
members of and beneficiaries under the Employees'
Retirement System, an exception for social security
benefits.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 579.

This bill creates an exception for social security
benefits in the provision excluding the application of any
other laws to the State Employees' Retirement System.

House Bill 966, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 16, 1978, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill
579.
