and practicality of the use of wood; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, with the advice and
assistance of the Department of General Services and the
Department of Natural Resources, is requested to conduct a
pilot program at Eastern Shore Hospital Center in Dorchester
County, to investigate the use of waste wood products for
providing heat and other forms of energy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene, with the collaboration of the Forest Service and
of the Department of General Services, is requested to
report the results of this pilot study to the General
Assembly of 1979; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to Dr.
Neil Solomon, Director of the Department of Health and
Mental Hygiene; the Honorable J. Max Millstone, Director of
the Department of General Services; the Honorable James
Coulter, Director of the Department of Natural Resources;
and the Eastern Shore Hospital Center.

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Steel Import Quotas

FOR the purpose of requesting the Congressional Delegation
from Maryland to initiate and support federal action to
impose quotas on steel imports to assist the steel
industry of this nation to strengthen its position and
thus create more jobs for steelworkers and allied
occupations.

The steel industry of the United States is suffering
financial setbacks. This has resulted in cutbacks in
production by various corporations with resultant loss of
jobs for thousands of steelworkers.

A decline in the position of the steel industry not
only causes loss of jobs in that segment of our society, but
has a spin-off into related industries which are dependent
on a healthy steel industry for existence.

The steel industry has been put under great pressure
and it is generally conceded that one of the prime factors
is the "dumping" of steel imports from foreign
