Ch. 887

amendment to the Constitution of Maryland as enacted by

Chapter_____of the Acts of _____ (H.B. _____ (LR0470) of

1978); and if the proposed Constitutional Amendment is
rejected by the qualified voters of Maryland, then this Act
shall become null and void without the necessity of further
action by the General Assembly.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That subject to
the contingency in Section 2, this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1978.

(House Bill 628)

AN ACT concerning

Property Tax Assessment Appeal Boards

FOR the purpose of providing an alternate member for the
Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board in each
subdivision; providing for the method of appointment
and the term of office of the alternate member;
providing that the alternate may succeed to a vacancy
until the vacancy is filled and that the member may
serve only when a regular member is absent; providing
for the rate of compensation of the alternate; and
relating to membership on the Property Tax Assessment
Appeal, Boards.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 81 - Revenue and Taxes

Section 248(a)(1), (b), and (d)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1975 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 81 - Revenue and Taxes

248.

(a) (1) There is in each county and Baltimore City
a property tax assessment appeal board consisting of three
REGULAR members AND ONE ALTERNATE MEMBER to be appointed by
the Governor from a list of three persons for each vacancy.
THE LIST SHALL BE submitted to the Governor by the mayor of
Baltimore City, the county commissioners or county council
