AN ACT concerning

Theft-Related Offenses - Consolidation and Revision

FOR the purpose of repealing certain theft—related offenses;
repealing penalties provided for certain theft-related
offenses; revising, repealing, and enacting provisions
pertaining to certain offenses of fraud, receiving

stolen goods, criminal possession of goods, and

penalties therefore; consolidating certain

theft-related offenses into a single newly created
offense to be known as "theft", and prescribing certain
acts pertaining to theft of property, labor, and

services to be criminal acts; providing certain

defenses and presumptions; revising the law relating to
tad checks; specifying certain penalties; providing
immunity from civil liability for certain persons who
commit certain acts under certain circumstances;
removing references to theft—related offenses repealed
by this Act; recodifying and renumbering certain
sections of the Annotated Code of Maryland; providing a
certain effective date for this Act; and also providing
for the prospective effect of this Act; and generally
revising the law pertaining to certain types of
stealing.

BY adding to

Section 340 through 344, inclusive, to be under the new
subheading "Theft"; and 140 through 144,
inclusive, to be under the new subheading "Bad
Checks"
