APPROVED DEVELOPED BY THE SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE, FOR THE SERVICES REQUIRED TO
OPERATE GROUP HOMES THAT ARE ACQUIRED, CONSTRUCTED, OR
RENOVATED BY THE STATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 1004 OF
THIS SUBTITLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

CHAPTER 806

(Senate Bill 394)

AN ACT concerning

Unemployment Compensation - Weekly Benefit

FOR the purpose of increasing the weekly benefits of
unemployment insurance, and disqualifying an individual

for benefits for voluntarily quitting work; and

changing the disqualification for benefits for gross
misconduct changing certain disqualification penalties.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 95A - Unemployment Insurance Law
Section 3(b)(1) and 6(a) and (b) (c)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Replacement Volume and 1977 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 95A — Unemployment Insurance Law

3.

(b) (1) Weekly Benefit Amount. An individual's
"weekly benefit amount" shall be determined by applying the
total of wages paid him for insured work in that calendar
quarter of his base period in which such total wages were
highest to column (A) in "schedule of benefits" set forth
below. Upon determination as to the division of said
schedule for which such individual's high quarter wages
qualify, the weekly benefit amount shall be the amount shown
on the same line in column (B).

Provided, if a claimant had not earned qualifying
wages, as required in § 4 (d) of this article, for the
weekly benefit amount shown in the schedule of benefits on
