1,200 FEET OF ANY PIER THAT SUPPORTS EITHER SPAN OF THE

WILLIAM PRESTON LANE, JR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE, ANY GILL NET.

(3) A PERSON MAY NOT SET, FISH, OR HAVE IN THE

CHESAPEAKE BAY OR ITS TRIBUTARIES ANY GILL NET, BETWEEN JUNE

1 AND SEPTEMBER 30, INCLUSIVE.

(2) A PERSON MAY NOT SET OR FISH WITH ANY GILL

NET WITHIN 1,200 FEET OF ANY PIER THAT SUPPORTS EITHER SPAN

OF THE WILLIAM PRESTON LANE, JR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE BETWEEN

JUNE 1 AND SEPTEMBER 30, INCLUSIVE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

(House Bill 228)

AN ACT concerning

Midlives

FOR the purpose of specifying requirements for licensure as
a midwife after a certain date; providing that the
responsibility for the licensure of nurse midwives

licensed by the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene

is transferred to the Board of Examiners of Nurses as

of a certain occurrence; providing for license renewal

by currently licensed midwives; requiring licensure for
any attendance at childbirth not supervised by a
physician; requiring midwives to notify a physician in
certain cases; deleting certain requirements for
registration and reports by midwives and the penalties
for violations; deleting provisions for certain
reciprocal licensure; clarifying certain acts
prohibited for licensed midwives; defining certain
words, correcting certain obsolete references, deleting
other obsolete provisions; renumbering certain
provisions; making style changes; and generally
restructuring the provisions for licensure as a midwife
and practice of midwifery.
