AN ACT concerning

Gill Nets - License Fees for Senior Citizens

FOR the purpose of allowing senior citizens to elect to
purchase a license for additional yardage of gill nets
by paying a certain fee; and clarifying language.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 4-704(c)(2)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

4-704.

(c)          The fee for commercial license to catch fish is:

(2)        (I)        Gill Net. - $50 minimum fee, WHICH

FEE IS valid for [amount of yardage available] up to 200
yards [and] PLUS $5 for each 100 yards or fraction of 100
yards in excess of THE FIRST 200 yards.

(II) [Persons] AN INDIVIDUAL 65 years old
or older may elect to be exempt from payment of the license
fee UNDER PARAGRAPH (I) OF THIS SUBSECTION for [no more
than] UP TO 400 yards. IF THE INDIVIDUAL DESIRES MORE
YARDAGE, HE MAY PAY A $25 FEE FOR UP TO A TOTAL OF 1,000
YARDS, [provided that these] HOWEVER, [nets may be fished by
the licensee only] ONLY THE LICENSEE UNDER THIS PARAGRAPH
MAY FISH THE GILL NET THAT IS EXEMPTED FROM PARAGRAPH (I) OF
THIS SUBSECTION, and the licensee UNDER THIS PARAGRAPH [may
not obtain any additional gill net yardage under this
section] IS RESTRICTED TO A TOTAL OF 1,000 YARDS OF GILL
