AN ACT concerning

Natural Resources — Peelers and Other Crabs

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of a peeler;
deleting the prohibition on catching, possessing, or
keeping in floats buckram crabs or certain green crabs;
and requiring that peelers, once taken, be kept
separate from other crabs.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Natural Resources

4-801.

(e) "Peeler" means a crab which has a soft shell
[fully developed] THAT IS DEVELOPING under the hard shell,
on which there is a [pink] WHITE, PINK, OR RED line or rim
on the edge of that part of the back fin next to the outer
section of this fin.

4-80 9.

[ (d) A person may not catch, possess, or keep in
floats any green crab which is less than five inches from
tip to tip of the spikes, or any buckram crab of any size. ]

(D)       ONCE TAKEN, PEELERS SHALL BE KEPT SEPARATE FROM

OTHER CRABS.
