SHALL BE INSTITUTED WITHIN 5 YEARS AFTER THE OFFENSE WAS

COMMITTED.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That any common
law crimes relating to extortion are not abolished.

SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

CHAPTER 449

(Senate Bill 258)

Extortion

FOR the purpose of changing the crime of extortion in this
State establishing a crime of extortion; prohibiting

the implied repeal of certain common law statutes;

providing for penalties; and generally relating to

extortion.

     SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That Section(s) 562 of Article 27 - Crimes and
Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED 1. BE IT ENACTED

BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That section(s) of the
Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted
to read as follows:
