The Department has the responsibility for the
establishment of State ambient noise standards, the
coordination of State efforts in the control of noise, the
development of a plan for the achievement of the ambient
noise standards, and the promulgation of regulations
controlling noise emanating from activities on private real
property AND ON PUBLIC PROPERTY OTHER THAN NOISE FROM
CONSTRUCTION OR REPAIR WORK, except THOSE FACILITIES UNDER

THE JURISDICTION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND

EXCEPT as otherwise provided for in the Code, REGULATIONS
CONTROLLING NOISE ON DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES

SHALL BE JOINTLY PROMULGATED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF

TRANSPORTATION AND THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL
HYGIENE. THESE REGULATIONS SHALL BE PROMULGATED WITHIN ONE
YEAR OF THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ACT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

State Fire Marshal's Office — Hazardous
Duty Pay

FOR the purpose of providing hazardous duty pay to certain
members of the State Fire Marshal's office in an amount
to be determined by the Secretary of Personnel.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

(G) (1) EMPLOYEES OF THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S
OFFICE SHALL RECEIVE ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION PROVIDING THEY
