THE COUNTY BOARD MAY ASK THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OR
COUNTY COUNCIL TO ASSIST IT IN BRINGING CONDEMNATION
PROCEEDINGS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
77, §51.

Subsection (a) of this section is new language
derived from the exception in present Art. 77,
§56D(a).

In subsection (b) of this section, the present
reference to the "Maryland Rules of Procedure" is
deleted as unnecessary since Title 12 of the Real
Property Article requires that the proceeding be
conducted under the Maryland Rules.

Also in subsection (b) of this section, the
present reference to land required for "the site
of a school ... or playground" is deleted as
unnecessary since "any school purpose" clearly
would include the deleted purposes.

The only other changes are in style.

4-119. CONSOLIDATION OF SCHOOLS; TRANSPORTATION OF
STUDENTS.

(A)   CONSOLIDATION OF SCHOOLS.

IF A COUNTY BOARD CONSIDERS IT PRACTICABLE, IT SHALL
CONSOLIDATE SCHOOLS.

(B)   TRANSPORTATION OF PUPILS.

SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT,
EACH COUNTY BOARD SHALL ARRANGE FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF
STUDENTS TO AND FROM CONSOLIDATED SCHOOLS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
77, §53.

The only changes are in style.

As to other provisions on the transportation of
students, see Title 7, Subtitle 6 of this
article.

4-120. SCHOOLS NEAR THE BOUNDARY OF TWO COUNTIES.

(A) DEFINITIONS.

(1)   IN THIS SECTION, THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE
THE MEANINGS INDICATED.

(2)    "LOCAL CURRENT EXPENSE PER STUDENT" MEANS
ALL EXPENDITURES MADE BY A COUNTY FROM COUNTY
APPROPRIATIONS, EXCEPT STATE, FEDERAL, AND OTHER AID, FOR
