FOR the purpose of deleting the requirement that the
Governor and the Board of Public Works approve gifts or
grants from the federal government for purposes of
physical fitness and making that acceptance subject to
the requirements of law; expanding the categories of

aid which may be utilized generally by the State,

subject to the prior approval of the Governor; and
clarifying language.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative
Departments

344.

(b) If the federal government or any agency or
officer thereof offers to the State or to any such political
subdivision services, equipment, supplies, materials, or
funds by way of gift, or grant for purposes of physical
fitness, the State of Maryland, acting [through the Governor
and the Board of Public Works] PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS
OF LAW, may accept such offer and may authorize any officer
of the State or of one of the political subdivisions as the
case may be to receive and utilize such aid and assistance.
Similarly, if any other person, firm or corporation offers
to the State or to one or more of the political subdivisions
any such aid or assistance for purposes of physical fitness,
the offer may be accepted and the receiving and use of the
aid and assistance may be authorized with the consent [of
the Governor and of the Board of Public Works] REQUIRED BY
LAW.

Any gift or legacy OR OTHER DONATION, GRANT, OR LOAN,
