account of this allowance shall be made at regular intervals
by the Board of County Commissioners] ATTORNEY SHALL
RECEIVE EXPENSES AS PROVIDED BY THE STATE STANDARD TRAVEL
REGULATIONS.

(3)    The State's Attorney may appoint, subject to
the approval of the County Commissioners, fan assistant
State's attorney at an annual salary of $6,000] AS MANY
ASSISTANT STATE'S ATTORNEYS AS ARE NECESSARY. THE SALARY OF
THE ASSISTANT STATE'S ATTORNEYS SHALL BE SET BY THE STATE'S
ATTORNEY, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS.

(4)          THE STATE'S ATTORNEY AND EACH ASSISTANT
STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY ENGAGE IN THE PRIVATE PRACTICE OF LAW
SO LONG AS HIS PRIVATE PRACTICES DO NOT INTERFERE WITH HIS
OFFICIAL DUTIES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act

may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
State's Attorney in office on the effective date of this
Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary of
the State's Attorney shall take effect at the beginning of
the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

(House Bill 1870)

AN ACT concerning

Caroline County - County Treasurer

FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the Caroline
County Treasurer; removing the limitations on the
amount of expenses for which he may be reimbursed;
providing that he will be reimbursed for expenses as
provided in the State Standard Travel Regulations; and
specifying that the salary change does not affect the
incumbent.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
