(j) In Dorchester County, (1) the State's Attorney's
salary is [fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00)] $17,500.

(2)        The County Commissioners of Dorchester
County shall pay all reasonable expenses for the conduct of
the State's Attorney's office including, but not limited to,
rent, clerical and secretarial expenses, upon vouchers
submitted by the State's Attorney.

(3)        The State's Attorney may from time to time,
if deemed vise or necessary, with the approval of the judge
of the Circuit Court of Dorchester County, appoint and fix
the compensation of assistant State's attorneys who shall
present such cases to the Dorchester County grand jury and
perform such other acts and duties in relation to the grand
jury. Circuit and District Court sitting in Dorchester
County, as deemed necessary.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
State's Attorney in office on the effective date of this
Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary of
the State's Attorney shall take effect at the beginning of
the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
