BLAIR LEE III, Acting Governor

101

except the second sentence — and (iv), the last
sentence of (b)(3) and Art. 77, §36C(f), (g), and
all but the last two sentences of (i).

Subsection (a) of this section is new language
added to clarify references to the nine "elected
members" and the "student member" since both
types of members are elected.

Present Art. 77, §36C(a)(2), which provides for
the election of a chairman and vice chairman, is
deleted as unnecessary in light of §3—804(a) of
this subtitle.

In subsection (f) of this section, present
references to specific elections that have been
held are deleted as obsolete.

Subsection (f) (1) of this section is revised to
provide for the original staggered terms of board
members. However, the provision in present Art.
77, §36C(a) (4) (iii) that one third of the board
members be elected every 2 years now appears in
subsection (f) (1) of this section. This
requirement is a mathematical impossibility and
corrective legislation is needed.

Subsection (h) of this section is rewritten for
clarity. In this regard, see the revisor's note
to §3-301 of this title.

In this section and throughout this title, all
present references to election procedures
including nomination, filing deadlines, filing
fees, and provisions for nonpartisan elections
are transferred to Art. 33, the Election Code.
For a detailed cross—reference table to these
provisions, see the General Revisor's Note to
this title.

The only other changes are in style.

3-803. COMPENSATION AND EXPENSES.

(A)       COMPENSATION.

THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNTY BOARD IS    ENTITLED TO RECEIVE

$7,000 ANNUALLY AS COMPENSATION AND THE OTHER ELECTED

MEMBERS ARE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE $6,500      EACH ANNUALLY AS
COMPENSATION.

(B)       EXPENSES.

AFTER SUBMITTING VOUCHERS UNDER THE RULES AND

REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY THE COUNTY BOARD, THE CHAIRMAN AND
THE OTHER MEMBERS, INCLUDING THE STUDENT MEMBER, ARE
ENTITLED TO THE ALLOWANCES FOR TRAVEL AND OTHER EXPENSES
PROVIDED IN THE PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY BUDGET.
