MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                              967 OR UP TO THE MINIMUM REQUIRED SECURITY AMOUNTS REQUIRED
UNDER THE MARYLAND VEHICLE LAW; OR (2) AN ORDER OF SATISFACTION IS FILED WITH
THE COURT THAT RENDERED THE JUDGMENT. (B) CREDIT FOR PAYMENTS MADE IN SETTLEMENT OF
CLAIMS. A PAYMENT MADE IN SETTLEMENT OF ANY CLAIM BECAUSE
OF BODILY INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING FROM
THE ACCIDENT SHALL BE CREDITED IN REDUCTION OF THE
PAYMENT REQUIRED BY SUBSECTION (A) (1) OF THIS SECTION. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
from Art. 66 1/2, §7-208. In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the phrase "to the judgment   creditor or into the court that rendered the   judgment" is added for
clarity. Also in subsection (a) (1), the phrase "or up
to the minimum required security amounts ..."
is substituted for the present, lengthy
repetition of the minimum benefits required by
§17—103 of this title. This generalized
phrase will readily accomodate, without
modification, any potential amendments to the
required benefits of §17-103. Furthermore, it
accomodates the different, greater limits
established by Ch. 735, Acts of 1976, for
Class J (Van Pool) vehicles (see §13-932 of
this article); although, in this regard, the
change is substantive, the Commission suspects
the the failure of Ch. 735 to conform these
provisions was but an oversight. In subsection (a) (2) of this section, the
reference to an "order of satisfaction ...
filed with the court" is substituted for the
present, more vague reference to a judgment
that has been "released". This substitution
conforms with current practice and assures
protection of the judgment debtor. The only other changes are in style. 17-209. INSTALLMENT PAYMENT OF JUDGMENT. (A) APPLICATION FOR AND COURT ORDER PERMITTING
INSTALLMENTS. ON DUE NOTICE TO THE JUDGMENT CREDITOR, A JUDGMENT
DEBTOR MAY APPLY TO THE COURT THAT RENDERED THE JUDGMENT
FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF PAYING THE JUDGMENT IN INSTALLMENTS.
IN ITS DISCRETION, THE COURT MAY ORDER PAYMENT OF THE
JUDGMENT IN INSTALLMENTS AND MAY SET AND MODIFY FROM TIME
