17-203. DUTY OF ADMINISTRATION AS TO NONRESIDENT
JUDGMENT DEBTOR.
IF THE JUDGMENT DEBTOR NAMED IN A CERTIFIED COPY OF
A JUDGMENT OR IN A CERTIFICATE OF FACTS IS A NONRESIDENT,
THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL SEND A CERTIFIED COPY OF THE
JUDGMENT OR CERTIFICATE OF FACTS TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE
ADMINISTRATOR OF THE STATE WHERE THE JUDGMENT DEBTOR IS
A RESIDENT AND OF ANY OTHER STATE WHERE THE VEHICLE OF
THE JUDGMENT DEBTOR IS REGISTERED.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §7-203.
In this section and throughout this subtitle,
the more accurate term "judgment debtor" is
substituted for "defendant". See revisor's
note to §17-202 of this subtitle.
Also in this section, the concluding phrase
"and of any other State where ..." is added to
conform with the intent of this section and
the practice of the Administration.
The only other changes are in style.
17-204. SUSPENSION OF LICENSE AND REGISTRATION ON
NONPAYMENT OF JUDGMENT.
EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS SUBTITLE, ON
RECEIPT OF A CERTIFIED COPY OF A JUDGMENT AND A
CERTIFICATE OF FACTS, THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL SUSPEND:
(1) THE LICENSE TO DRIVE OF THE JUDGMENT DEBTOR;
AND
(2) THE REGISTRATION OF ALL VEHICLES OWNED BY THE
JUDGMENT DEBTOR AND REGISTERED IN THIS STATE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §7-204.
In this section and throughout this subtitle,
present references to a "nonresident's
operating privilege" are deleted as
unnecessary in light of the broad definition
of "license" in §11-128 of this article to the
same effect.
In item (2) of this section, the present,
rather vague, reference to "registration" is
expanded on for clarity.
The only other changes are in style.
