794                                            LAWS OF MARYLAND                              Ch. 14
HAULING LOOSE MATERIALS IN BULK WITHIN A RADIUS FOR A DISTANCE OF NOT MORE THAN 100 MILES OF THE POINT OF PICKUP AND DELIVERY: (1) THE VEHICLE IS LIMITED AS TO MAXIMUM
GROSS WEIGHT ONLY BY THE ALLOWABLE AND PAID REGISTRATION WEIGHT; AND (2) THE VEHICLE IS NOT SUBJECT TO ANY OTHER
RESTRICTIONS OF THE MARYLAND VEHICLE LAW ON THE WEIGHT,
GROSS WEIGHT, OR AXLE LOADS OF A VEHICLE. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 66 1/2,
§3-806(c). In subsection (e) of this section, the present
provisions that emphasize the continued
applicability of other established speed
limits are deleted as superfluous. As to
speed limits generally, see Title 21, Subtitle
8 of this article. Similarly, in subsection (f) of this section,
the present provisions that emphasize the
applicability of other restrictions as to
weight, if the vehicle is beyond the specified
radius or is not hauling loose materials in
bulk, also are deleted as superfluous. As to
weight limits generally, see Title 24 of this
article. As to subsection (f) of this section, the
Commission is unsure of the exact limitation
intended by the phrase "within a radius of not
more than 100 miles of the point of pickup and
delivery" (emphasis added). A radius cannot
be measured by two points. 13-921 13-920. SAME - TOW TRUCKS. IF THE SHIPPING WEIGHT OF THE CHASSIS AND BATTERY OF
A CLASS E (TRUCK) VEHICLE, AS CERTIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER, IS MORE THAN 2,500 POUNDS AND IF THE
VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED AS A TOW TRUCK AND IS USED ONLY TO
TOW VEHICLES FOR REPAIR, STORAGE, OR REMOVAL FROM THE HIGHWAYS, THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR THAT VEHICLE IS THE SAME AS THAT FOR A VEHICLE WITH A MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT OF
17,000 POUNDS, AS SET FORTH IN §13-917(B) §13-916(B) OF
THIS SUBTITLE, NOTWITHSTANDING THE ACTUAL SHIPPING WEIGHT OF ITS CHASSIS AND BATTERY. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 66 1/2, §3-806(d). 13-922 13-921. SAME - FARM TRUCK REGISTRATION.
