Ch. 14
784
LAWS OF MARYLAND
(1)    IF THE REGISTRATION OF A VEHICLE IS
ISSUED ON OR BEFORE THE LAST DAY OF THE SIXTH MONTH OF
THE REGISTRATION YEAR FOR THAT CLASS OF VEHICLE, THE FULL
ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE SHALL BE PAID. (2)    IF THE REGISTRATION OF A VEHICLE IS
ISSUED ON OR AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEVENTH MONTH OF
THE REGISTRATION YEAR FOR THAT CLASS OF VEHICLE, ONLY ONE
HALF OF THE ANNUAL REGISTRATION NEED BE PAID. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
from Art. 66 1/2, §3-826. Present §3—826 is written to specify October 1
as the cut-off date for Class A and Class D
vehicles and November 1 as the cut-off date
for "any other class of vehicle". This last,
however, fails to reflect the special
registration year for a Class E "dump service
registration", which, as provided in §13—412
of this title, expires on May 31; for
consistency, the cut—off date for this
registration should be December 1 and not
November 1. To correct this error - and provide a formula
that would apply to any other unique
registration year that might be provided for
in the future — this section is revised to
delete the specific date references and, to
the same end result, simply refer to the "last
day of the sixth month" and the "first day of
the seventh month" of a registration year. 13-90 5. POSTAGE PAYMENTS NOT ALLOWED. THE ADMINISTRATOR ADMINISTRATION MAY NOT REQUIRE
APPLICANTS FOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION TO PAY POSTAGE FOR
THE MAILING OF ANY VEHICLE REGISTRATION CARDS OR PLATES. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §3-821. The first clause of the present section, which
prohibits the former Commissioner from
collecting a commission on certain fees, is
deleted as obsolete and - since it specifies
only certain classes of vehicles — as
erroneously implying that the Administrator
might be allowed a commission on those classes
not specified. The only other changes are in style. 13-906. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS WHERE FEE BASED ON
GROSS WEIGHT.
