In subsection (a)(2) of this section, the more
general reference to a "Class E (Truck)
vehicle" is substituted for "pickup truck";

Subsection (d)(2) of this section is new
language added to reflect the current practice
of distinguishing special plates issued under
this section by a special symbol unique to
this registration.

13-616. SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATES FOR DISABLED
PERSONS.
(A) WHO MAY OBTAIN.
(1) THE OWNER OF ANY VEHICLE DESCRIBED IN
PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION MAY APPLY TO THE
ADMINISTRATION FOR THE ASSIGNMENT TO THAT VEHICLE OF A
SPECIAL, DISABLED PERSONS REGISTRATION NUMBER, IF THE
APPLICANT, A DEPENDENT OF THE APPLICANT, OR ANY
INDIVIDUAL WHO DEPENDS ON THE APPLICANT FOR
TRANSPORTATION:
(I) HAS PERMANENTLY LOST THE USE OF A LEG OR
AN ARM;
(II) IS SO SEVERELY DISABLED AS TO BE UNABLE
TO MOVE WITHOUT A WHEELCHAIR OR CRUTCHES; OR
(III) SO SUFFERS FROM LUNG DISEASE THAT HIS
FORCED EXPIRATORY VOLUME, ONE SECOND, WHEN MEASURED BY
SPIROMETRY, IS LESS THAN ONE LITER.

(2) THIS SECTION APPLIES ONLY AS TO AN OWNER

EQUIPPED FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF OR OPERATION BY A
HANDICAPPED INDIVIDUAL.
