MARVIN MANDEL, Governor 619
IN THIS STATE A VEHICLE OWNED BY THE NONRESIDENT.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 66 1/2,
§1-154.
11-141. OPERATE.
"OPERATE", AS USED IN REFERENCE TO A VEHICLE, MEANS
TO DRIVE, AS DEFINED IN THIS SUBTITLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added
to permit the continued use of the term
"operate" in the same sense as that presently
used in Art. 66 1/2, and as that provided for
the term "drive", as defined in §11-114 of
this subtitle. See revisor's note to that
section.
11-14 2. OPERATOR.
"OPERATOR", AS USED IN REFERENCE TO A VEHICLE, MEANS
-A- DRIVER, AS DEFINED IN THIS SUBTITLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language
substituted for Art. 66 1/2, §1-156.
As presently defined, "driver" and "operator"
are virtually synonymous terms. The
substitution here of a simple cross-reference
makes that construction more apparent. See,
also, revisor's note to §11—114 of this
subtitle.
11-143. OWNER.
"OWNER", AS USED IN REFERENCE TO A VEHICLE:
(1) MEANS A PERSON WHO HAS THE PROPERTY IN OR
TITLE TO THE VEHICLE;
(2) INCLUDES A PERSON WHO, SUBJECT TO A SECURITY
INTEREST IN ANOTHER PERSON, IS ENTITLED TO THE USE AND
POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE; AND
(3) DOES NOT INCLUDE A LESSEE UNDER A LEASE NOT
INTENDED AS SECURITY.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §1-157.
The only changes are in style.
