610 LAWS OF MARYLAND Ch. 14
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
"DRIVER'S LICENSE" MEANS ANY LICENSE OR PERMIT TO
DRIVE A MOTOR VEHICLE THAT IS ISSUED UNDER TITLE 16 OF
THIS ARTICLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language
patterned after the like definition appearing
in the Uniform Vehicle Code.
It is added to clarify the references in the
Maryland Vehicle Law to a "driver's license"
— i.e., a license issued by the
Administration under Title 16 of this article
— as compared to the broader references to
any other "license" to drive a motor vehicle,
which — as defined in §11-128 of this
subtitle — includes a "nonresident's privilege
to drive", as well as the general "privilege"
of individuals to drive motor vehicles.
11-117. EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES.
(A) "EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES" INCLUDES THOSE
ACTIVITIES OF SCHOOLS CERTIFIED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF
EDUCATION, ACTIVITIES OF CENTERS FOR THE MENTALLY
RETARDED AND PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED, CHURCH SCHOOLS,
SUNDAY SCHOOLS AND CHURCH RELATED FUNCTIONS, DAY CARE
CENTERS, DAY CAMPS, OR SUMMER CAMPS, OR ANY OTHER
ACTIVITY THAT PROVIDES SOME EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR
ITS PARTICIPANTS.
(B) THIS DEFINITION SHALL BE LIBERALLY CONSTRUED.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §1-181(d). It is made a separate
section to permit proper alphabetical
placement.
In subsection (a) of this section, the present
phrase "but not ... limited to" is deleted as
unnecessary in light of the definition of
"includes" in §1—101 of this article.
The only other changes are in style.
11-118. EMERGENCY VEHICLE.
"EMERGENCY VEHICLE" MEANS ANY OF THE FOLLOWING
VEHICLES THAT ARE DESIGNATED BY THE ADMINISTRATION AS
ENTITLED TO THE EXEMPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES SET FORTH IN
THE MARYLAND VEHICLE LAW FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES:
(1) VEHICLES OF FEDERAL, STATE, OR LOCAL LAW
ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES;
(2) VEHICLES OF VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANIES, RESCUE
SQUADS, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, AND THE FIRE SERVICE EXTENSION
MARYLAND FIRE AND RESCUE INSTITUTE;
