minimum penalty, the court nevertheless nay
impose a lesser penalty of the same character. Also in subsection (b), the last clause of the
first sentence of present §247, which
authorizes imprisonment for not more than 30
days on default of the payment of the fine, is
deleted as unnecessary in light of — and, to
the extent of any inconsistencies, superseded
by - Art. 38, §4 to similar effect.
GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE: In revising this title, the Commission to Revise the
Annotated Code included the bulk of those provisions of
the Annotated Code (principally in Article 89B) that
relate to the construction, maintenance, operation, and
regulation of the State Highway System by the State
Highway Administration. (Provisions relating to county
roads are included only if they require significant
involvement by the State Highway Administration; as to
county roads, generally, see Article 25 of the Code.) As to the financing of State and county highways
through the issuance of bonds, see Title 3 of this
article; as to the financing and operation of toll
highways and toll bridges, see Title 4 of this article. As to provisions relating to rules of the road,
size, weight, and load of vehicles, and regulations for
the preservation of highways, see Titles 11 through 27 of
this article. Throughout this title, obsolete references to the
State Roads Commission have been corrected to refer to
the State Highway Administration. In this regard, see
revisor's note to §8—207 of this title.
In addition to the deletions noted in the
appropriate revisor's notes to sections in this title,
the Commission deleted as obsolete or otherwise
unnecessary the following related provisions: (1)   Art. 56, §211 and Art. 89B, §§ 63, 105,
219, 235, and 262. These sections, which provide for the
severability of various provisions in Arts. 56 and 89B,
are unnecessary in light of Art. 1, §23 of the Code. (2)   Art. 56, §204A. See revisor's note to
§8-702 of this title. (3)    Art. 56, §209. See revisor's note to
§8-718 of this title. (4)   Art. 89B, §3B. This section provides
that the Attorney General is the legal adviser to the
