CHARTER AMENDMENT RESOLUTION NUMBER 1976-1
RESOLUTION NUMBER 321
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GREENBELT, MARYLAND,
ENLARGING THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF
GREENBELT BY ANNEXING LAND CONTIGUOUS AND
ADJOINING THE EXISTING CORPORATE AREA
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Greenbelt, a
Municipal Corporation of the State of Maryland, has
determined to enlarge and extend the limits of the City
of Greenbelt by including therein a part of Prince
George's County contiguous and adjoining thereto in
accordance with the procedures set forth in Section 19 of
Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition and Amendments), said Article being titled
"Corporations—Municipal", Section 19 being a sub—heading,
"Annexation"; and
WHEREAS, the land being annexed is presently owned
in its entirety by the aforesaid City of Greenbelt; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Greenbelt has
determined to initiate a resolution to enlarge and extend
the limits of the City of Greenbelt to include the
hereinafter described area and to make applicable to that
area all laws of the State of Maryland applicable to the
City of Greenbelt and all existing charter provisions and
ordinances of the city which are now in force or may be
hereafter enacted; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Greenbelt
has caused a public notice to be published not fewer than
four (4) times at not less than weekly intervals in a
newspaper having a general circulation in the City of
Greenbelt and the area to be annexed, briefly and
accurately describing this resolution, the proposed
change, and the conditions and circumstances applicable,
and specifying the time and place at which a public
hearing will be held by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing on this resolution was
held by the City Council of the City of Greenbelt at 8:00
P.M. in the City Building on February 2, 1976; and
WHEREAS, an outlined for the extension of services
was prepared and provided to the Executive and the
Council of Prince George's County, the Maryland—National
Capital Park and Planning Commission, and the Maryland
Department of State Planning at least 30 days prior to
the holding of the public hearing; now, therefore,
[Annexation of Greenbelt in the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County.
