No. 23 (Senate Joint Resolution 66) A Senate Joint Resolution concerning Eagleton Institute of Politics - Project PRESS FOR the purpose of urging the Legislative Policy
Committee to seek Maryland participation in Project
PRESS (Program Review in Education and Social
Services) being conducted by the Eagleton Institute
of Politics. The General Assembly hereby recognizes the existence
and stature of the Eagleton Institute of Politics located
at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The
Eagleton Institute, over the past ten years, has
furnished highly valuable technical and supportive
services to 30 state legislatures in the areas of
contractual studies, foundation-funded projects,
consultation services, training conferences, and academic
studies supported by grants from the Ford Foundation,
Carnegie Corporation, National Science Foundation, and
the United States Civil Service Commission. The Eagleton
Institute is presently engaged in a project known as
PRESS (Program Review in Education and Social Services),
in which the Institute is selecting target educational or
social services programs of the states for comprehensive
evaluation as to their effectiveness; now, therefore, be
it RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Legislative Policy Committee is urged to request the
Eagleton Institute of Politics to include the State of
Maryland in its PRESS project and select as a target
program for review and analysis one of the following
Maryland programs or agencies: (1) Multi—jurisdictional planning agencies;
(2) Vocational rehabilitation programs under
