Law and Attorneys in Fact, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be
and it is hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
Article 10 — Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact
40.
(e) (1) In Calvert County the State's Attorney's
salary is [($15,000.00)] $22,500 annually. He may, with
the approval of the County Commissioners, appoint an
assistant A DEPUTY whose salary shall be set by the
Commissioners.
(2) The assistant DEPUTY State's attorney
shall serve at the pleasure of the State's Attorney and
have the same legal power as the State's Attorney to
represent the State before the grand jury and at the
trial of criminal proceedings.
[(3) The County Commissioners shall furnish
the State's Attorney a secretary.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
provisions of this Act shall not be construed to extend
or apply to the salary of the persons specified by this
Act in office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act concerning the salary of the
persons specified by this Act shall take effect at the
beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.

CHAPTER 959
(House Bill 1281)
AN ACT concerning
Tax Credits - local Property Taxes
FOR the purpose of creating a program of tax credits
against certain real property taxes upon certain
conditions; providing that any credits provided by
this Act are to be subtracted from any allowable
credit as provided under Section 12F-1 of Article
81; and providing the method of calculating the tax
credit.
