(Senate Bill 185)
AN ACT concerning
State Highway Administration — Sale of Land
FOR the purpose of changing the authority of the State
Highway Administration to dispose of land no longer
required for highway use; providing for withdrawal
of land from sale under certain circumstances;
correcting certain references to the Administration;
and generally relating to its authority to dispose
of land.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 89B - State Roads
Section 6
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement)
Article - Transportation
Section 8-309(c), (e), and (f)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(As enacted by Ch. ___ of the Acts
of the General Assembly of 1977)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 6 of Article 89B - State Roads, of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume
and 1976 Supplement) be and it is Sections 8-309(c), (e),
and (f) of Article - Transportation, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (As enacted by Ch. of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1977), be and they are hereby
repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
Article 89B - State Roads
6.
[(1)] (A) It is hereby declared to be the
legislative intent that the State [Roads Commission]
HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION should divest itself from
ownership of land not needed for current or future
highway purposes or other public purposes in order that

development or be otherwise developed by private
