AN ACT concerning
State Committee on the School Bus Formula
FOR the purpose of creating the State Committee on the
School Bus Formula; naming the members of the
committee; setting forth the functions of the
committee; and naming consultants to the committee;
and relating generally to the State Committee on the
School Bus Formula.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 19 of Article 77 - Public
Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 77 - Public Education
19.
The State Board of Education shall transmit to the
Governor an annual State public school budget
including[, subject to THE CONSTITUTION OF MARYLAND AND
existing laws,] the appropriation for the State
Department of Education; State aid to the counties and
Baltimore City for current expenses and for the
construction of school buildings; and necessary costs of
transporting pupils to public schools as [approved by the
State Superintendent of Schools] RECOMMENDED BY THE STATE
COMMITTEE ON THE SCHOOL BUS FORMULA. AND, AFTER
CONSIDERATION OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE STATE
COMMITTEE ON THE SCHOOL BUS FORMULA SUBMITTED TO THE
STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, THE NECESSARY COSTS OF
TRANSPORTING PUPILS TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS. The [said] budget
shall be certified [to] by the State Superintendent of
Schools prior to transmittal to the Governor.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
