AN ACT concerning
Retail Service Stations - Moratorium on Conversions
FOR the purpose of providing for a certain moratorium on
existing service stations converting to
gasoline-only facilities.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 56 — Licenses
Section 157F (a)
Annotated Code of Maryland

Preamble
WHEREAS, The proper maintenance of the automobile is
essential to the conservation of gasoline; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of the State of Maryland rely
on service stations for the maintenance of their
automobiles; and
WHEREAS, Some major oil companies have been
eliminating full-service station operations by converting
them to gasoline—only outlets; and
WHEREAS, Dealers with full-service stations have
served their clientele faithfully for many years and have
established goodwill within their communities and with
the citizens of the State of Maryland whom they serve;
and
WHEREAS, Those travelers who travel through the
State of Maryland must be assured of the availability of
road service or emergency service for their safety and
protection; and
WHEREAS, Citizens of the State of Maryland have
voiced their needs by patronizing full—service stations
for decades and would be placed at a severe disadvantage
if these stations were unavailable; now, therefore,
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 157F(a) of Article 56 - Licenses,
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement
