CONSISTS OF CAPITATION GRANTS OF $3,000 PER FULL-TIME
STUDENT ENROLLED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. TO
BE AWARDED TO THE MEDICAL EDUCATION CENTER FOR EACH
INDIVIDUAL COMPLETING AN ACCREDITED PROGRAM IN PHYSICIAN
ASSISTANT OR NURSE PRACTITIONER TRAINING AS DEFINED UNDER
SUBPARAGRAPH (B)(4)(II) OF THIS SECTION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$3,000 FOR EACH PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT AND $1,500 FOR EACH
NURSE PRACTITIONER.
(2) IF THE AGGREGATE AMOUNT OF THE GRANTS TO
BE MADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH (C) (1) EXCEEDS THE AMOUNT
APPROPRIATED TO THE PROGRAM IN ANY YEAR, THIN THE AMOUNT
OF A SCHOOL;S SCHOOL'S GRANT FOR THAT PERIOD SHALL BE
EQUAL TO: THE AMOUNT DETERMINED FOR THE SCHOOL'S UNDER
(C)(1) MULTIPLIED BY THE RATIO OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT
APPROPRIATED TO THE TOTAL AMOUNT REQUIRED TO MAKE GRANTS
TO ALL SCHOOLS IN ACCORDANCE WITH (C)(1).
(3) NO GRANTS SHALL BE AWARDED UNDER THIS PROGRAM
TO A MEDICAL EDUCATION CENTER WHICH HAS DISCONTINUED ITS
ACCREDITED PROGRAM IN PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT OR NURSE
PRACTITIONER TRAINING.
(D) THE MARYLAND STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD SHALL
ESTABLISH ANY RULES AND REGULATIONS NECESSARY FOR THE
ADMINISTRATION OF THIS PROGRAM.
(E) FUNDS FOR CAPITATION GRANTS HEREUNDER AND FOR
THE NECESSARY ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES SHALL BE PROVIDED
IN THE STATE BUDGET FROM YEAR TO YEAR BEGINNING WITH
FISCAL YEAR 1978. ANY OF THE FUNIS REMAINING UNUSED AT
THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR SHALL REVERT TO THE GENERAL
FUNDS OF THE STATE TREASURY.
(F) NOTHING CONTAINED HEREIN SHALL IN ANY WAY
IMPAIR OR AFFECT CONTROL BY THE INSTITUTIONS WHICH OFFER
ACCREDITED TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS AND
NURSE PRACTITIONERS IN PRIMARY CASE OR THE OPERATION OF
THEIR PROGRAMS, OR IN ANY WAY AFFECT THE POWER TO FIX THE
STANDARDS OF SCHOLARSHIP REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION TO THE
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT OR NURSE PRACTITIONER IN PRIMARY CARE
TRAINING PROGRAM.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
