AN ACT concerning
Forest or Park — Reserve Fund
FOR the purpose of increasing a certain percent of
revenue to be paid to the certain counties from the
Forest or Park Reserve Fund; increasing the excess
amount; and providing for an abnormal effective
date.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 5-212 of Article - Natural
Resources, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1974 Volume
and 1976 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article - Natural Resources
5-212.
A special Forest or Park Reserve Fund is created and
continued within the Department. Any money obtained from
the State forest reserves. State parks, scenic reserves,
parkways, historic monuments, and recreation areas,
together with any fine collected pursuant to § 5-1302 of
this title, shall be paid into the Fund. Each county in
which any State forest or park reserve is located shall
be paid annually out of the Fund [15] 25 percent of
the revenue derived from the State forest or park reserve
located in that county. EACH COUNTY IN WHICH THE FOREST
OR PARK RESERVE REPRESENTS COMPRISES 10 PERCENT OR MORE
OF THE TOTAL LAND ACREAGE AREA OF THAT COUNTY SHALL BE
PAID ANNUALLY OUT OF THE FUND A SUM EQUAL TO 25 PERCENT
OF THE REVENUES DERIVED FROM THAT ACREAGE THE STATE
FOREST OR PARK RESERVE LOCATED IN THAT COUNTY. On July 1
of each year, the balance of money in the Forest or Park
Reserve Fund in excess of [$175,000] $275,000 shall be
paid over to the general funds of the State.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
