Mental Retardation — Admission of Persons
to Public or Private Facility
FOR the purpose of providing for the admission of a
person of a certain age to a public or private
facility under the jurisdiction of the Mental
Retardation Administration.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section Sections 9 10(g), 11(f), and
11(h) of Article 59A - Mental Retardation, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume and
1976 Supplement) be and it is they are hereby repealed:
Article 59A - Mental Retardation
[9.
(a) Any parent or legal guardian on behalf of any
person under the age of 21 years may apply to the
Administration for admission of such person to the
appropriate public facility within the jurisdiction of
the Administration. The parent or legal guardian making
the application must, as a prerequisite to the admission,
be able to understand the mature of the request. The
application shall be in writing and shall be in such form
as may be required by the Administration.
(b) Upon receipt of the application, the director
or his designee shall designate a comprehensive
evaluation center for the purpose of a comprehensive
evaluation. The comprehensive evaluation shall
determine:
