AN ACT concerning
|

|

Prince George's County - Election of County Council
PG 201-77
FOR the purpose of providing a certain method for the
election of county council members in Prince
George's County; and submitting this amendment to
the qualified voters of the State of Maryland for
their adoption or rejection.
BY proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Maryland
Article XI—A - Local Legislation

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, (Three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses concurring), That the following be
and the same is hereby proposed as an amendment to
Section 3A of Article XI-A - Local Legislation, of the
Constitution of Maryland, the same, if adopted by the
legally qualified voters of the State, as herein
provided, to become a part of the Constitution of
Maryland:

3A.
The charter for the government of Baltimore, PRINCE
GEORGE'S and Howard counties under the provisions of this
Article, either as adopted, or by amendment, may provide
for the election of members of the county council by the
voters of councilmanic districts therein established, or
by the voters of the entire county, or by a combination
of these methods of election.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
aforegoing section hereby proposed as an amendment to the
Constitution of Maryland, at the next general election to
be held in this State in November, 1978, shall be
submitted to the legal and qualified voters thereof for
their adoption or rejection in pursuance of directions
contained in Article XIV of the Constitution of this
State. At that general election, the vote on this
proposed amendment to the Constitution shall be by
