(b) (4) (I) THE COMPOSITION OF THE COUNCIL,
THE SELECTION OF MEMBERS, AND THE ADMINISTRATION AND
FUNCTIONING OF THE COUNCIL SHALL CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS
OF THE FEDERAL DRUG ABUSE OFFICE AND TREATMENT ACT OF
1972, PUBLIC LAW 92-255 COMPREHENSIVE ALCOHOL ABUSE AND
ALCOHOLISM PREVENTION, TREATMENT, AND REHABILITATION ACT
OF 1970, PUBLIC LAW 91-616, AND TO ANY RULES AND
REGULATIONS PROMULGATED OR ADOPTED PURSUANT TO THE ACT.
(II) THIS PARAGRAPH DOES NOT REQUIRE
THE DISBANDING OF THE PRESENT COUNCIL AND THE IMMEDIATE
APPOINTMENT OF NEW MEMBERS. HOWEVER, ANY APPOINTMENTS
UNDER THIS ACT SHALL BE MADE SO AS TO BEING THE COUNCIL
INTO COMPLIANCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITH REGARD TO
FEDERAL MEMBERSHIP STANDARDS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 542 of Article 43 - Health, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and
1976 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
