the recommendation of the executive committee of the
Carroll County Volunteer Firemen's Association.
(B) THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY PROVIDE SERVICE
AWARD PAYMENTS FROM SUCH APPROPRIATIONS AS PROVIDED FOR
IN SECTION 3-8(A) TO ELIGIBLE VOLUNTEER FIREMAN AS
CERTIFIED BY THE CARROLL COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIREMEN'S
ASSOCIATION. SUCH PAYMENTS MAY BE MADE TO THOSE
INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE MET THE ADOPTED PLAN REQUIREMENTS AS
APPROVED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND HAVE REACHED THE
AGE OF SIXTY-FIVE ON THE PRESCRIBED DATE. SUCH PAYMENTS
SHALL NOT EXCEED $100.00 PER MONTH AND SHALL BE FOR LIFE.
THE SERVICE AWARD PAYMENTS MAY BE MADE MONTHLY BY THE
COUNTY DIRECTLY TO ELIGIBLE RECIPIENTS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977, with the provision that
service award payments may be made retroactive to__those
recipients eligible as of July 1, 1976.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 255(a) of Article 27 - Crimes and
Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1976
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
