Anne Arundel County - Sheriff's Salary
FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the Sheriff of
Anne Arundel County; and prohibiting this alteration
from affecting the incumbent Sheriff.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-309(c) (1) of Article -- Courts
and Judicial Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1974 Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-309.
(c) (1) The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall
receive a salary of [$17,500] $22,500 $20,000. In
addition to his salary, the Sheriff shall receive
$176,000 annually to be used for salaries of deputies and
any necessary clerical assistants; as of July 1, 1976,
$19,500 of this shall be for three new deputy sheriff
positions at $6,500 each.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
provisions of this Act shall not be construed to extend
or apply to the salary of the Sheriff of Anne Arundel
County in office on the effective date of this Act, but
the provisions of this Act concerning the salary of the
Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall take affect at the
beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
