1906                                    LAWS OF MARYLAND                           Ch. 248 SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977. Approved April 29, 1977.
CHAPTER 249 (House Bill 240) AN ACT concerning Motor Carriers — Migrant Workers FOR the purpose of exempting certain persons from the
reporting requirements of the Motor Carrier Road Tax
law if the person operates vehicles to transport
migrant workers and if the person presents evidence
of certain certification by the federal government. BY adding to Article 81 — Revenue and Taxes Section 416(e) Annotated Code of Maryland (1975 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 416(e) be and it is hereby
added to Article 81 — Revenue and Taxes, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1975 Replacement Volume and 1976
Supplement) to read as follows: Article 81 — Revenue and Taxes 416. (E) A MOTOR CARRIER WHICH OPERATES COMMERCIAL
MOTOR VEHICLES SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSPORTING
MIGRANT WORKERS, AS DEFINED IN 7 U.S.C.A. §2042, IS
EXEMPT FROM THE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION IF
THE REGISTRATION APPLICATION FILED PURSUANT TO §423
INCLUDES A CERTIFICATION FROM THE SECRETARY OF LABOR THAT
THE CARRIER HAS COMPLIED WITH THE FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS
CONCERNING THE TRANSPORTING OF MIGRANT WORKERS.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
