Property Tax Assessment Appeal Boards
FOR the purpose of authorizing the property tax
assessment appeal boards to employ such clerical
employees as they deem necessary, with the approval
of the Administrator of the property tax assessment
appeal boards.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 81 — Revenue and Taxes

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 249 of Article 81 - Revenue and
Taxes, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 81 - Revenue and Taxes
249.
(A) A majority of the property tax assessment
appeal board shall constitute a quorum for the
transaction of any business, the performance of any duty
or the exercise of any power conferred upon the board.
[The supervisor of assessments shall provide clerical
assistance.] The determination of any matter brought
before the board shall be evidenced by a written order
signed by a majority of its members and filed with its
clerk.
(B) EACH BOARD, WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE
ADMINISTRATOR, MAY EMPLOY SUCH CLERICAL EMPLOYEES AS IT
DEEMS NECESSARY TO EXERCISE THE DUTIES CONFERRED BY LAW.
SALARIES FOR SUCH EMPLOYEES SHALL BE AS PROVIDED IN THE
STATE BUDGET.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
