SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Sections 6—102(1) and (m) be and they are hereby added to
Article - Natural Resources, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1974 Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as
follows:
Article — Natural Resources
6-102.
(L) (1) "UNDERGROUND STORAGE" MEANS THE STORING
OF GAS OR OIL IN A GEOLOGICAL STRATUM BENEATH THE SURFACE
OF THE EARTH.
(2) "UNDERGROUND STORAGE" INCLUDES THE
INJECTION OF GAS OR OIL INTO AND WITHDRAWAL FROM AN
UNDERGROUND STORAGE RESERVOIR AND ANY OTHER OPERATION
NECESSARY FOR OR CONVENIENT TO THE STORAGE OF GAS OR OF
OIL.
(M) "UNDERGROUND STORAGE RESERVOIR" MEANS THE
STRATUM AND SUBSURFACE AREA THAT ARE USED OR ARE TO BE
USED FOR OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE UNDERGROUND STORAGE OF
GAS OR OF OIL.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.

AN ACT concerning
Vehicle Laws — Citation and Arrest
FOR the purpose of generally revising the law of arrest
and citation for vehicle, traffic, and related
offenses; modifying the procedures for the citation
and arrest of persons for violations of the Maryland
Vehicle Law, of traffic laws or ordinances of local
authorities of this State, and of certain other
provisions of the Code for which the issuance of a
traffic citation is authorized; providing for the
disposition of penalty deposits; providing for the
right, under certain circumstances, of arrest
without warrant if there is probable cause to
believe that a person has committed manslaughter by
automobile, motor vehicle, motorboat, locomotive,
engine, car, streetcar, train, or other vehicle;
conforming and clarifying related provisions and
