SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 556F be and it is hereby added
to Article 43 - Health, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as
follows:
Article 43 - Health
556F.
EVERY HOSPITAL AS DEFINED IN SECTION 556 OF THIS
ARTICLE, SHALL OFFER A UTERINE CYTOLOGIC EXAMINATION FOR
CANCER TO EVERY FEMALE IN-PATIENT 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OVER
UNLESS CONTRARY ORDERS ARE GIVEN BY THE ATTENDING
PHYSICIAN OR UNLESS THE EXAMINATION HAS BEEN PERFORMED
WITHIN THE PRECEDING YEAR. ANY FEMALE IN-PATIENT MAY
REFUSE SUCH EXAMINATION. THE HOSPITAL AGENCY SHALL IN
ALL CASES MAINTAIN RECORDS TO SHOW THE RESULTS OF THE
EXAMINATION, OR THAT THE EXAMINATION WAS NOT APPLICABLE
OR WAS REFUSED.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.

District Court Jurisdiction - Embezzlement
FOR the purpose of giving the District Court exclusive
original jurisdiction in certain embezzlement cases;

clarify its meaning.
