MAY OPEN SCHOOLS ON SATURDAYS AND HOLIDAYS IN CASES OF
EMERGENCY.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety and having been passed by a yea and nay
vote supported by three—fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage. Approved April 12, 1977.
CHAPTER 103 (Senate Bill 844) AN ACT concerning Charles County Salaries — State's Attorney's Office FOR the purpose of altering the maximum salary of the
State's Attorney, deputy State's attorney and the
assistant State's attorneys, in Charles County. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 10 — Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact Section 40(i) Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 40(i) of Article 10 - Attorneys at
Law and Attorneys in Fact, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be
and it is hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments,
to read as follows: Article 10 — Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact 40. (i)(1) In Charles County, the State's Attorney's salary is [$20,000] $25,000 a year; and he
shall serve full time. He shall appoint a deputy State's
attorney who shall serve full time and whose salary shall
be at such compensation, not exceeding [$17,000] $22,500
a year, as the [State's Attorney] COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
may deem proper[, to be paid by the County
Commissioners].        In addition to the deputy State's attorney, the State's Attorney may appoint part-time
assistant State's attorneys in the number approved by the
